Odense Fjord was once much larger than it is today. But thanks to land reclamation projects such as at Ølund 200 years ago, which was the largest containment of the time, the fjord has changed. You can read about the enclosures in the small museum Fjordmarkens Formidlingshus.
Every year the fjord is celebrated at Fjord Day Fjordens Dag with lots of activities at Klintebjerg and Egensedybet on the second Sunday in September. But Odense Fjord is worth a visit every day - see you out there!

Can I get to Vigelsø by boat?
You can get to Vigelsø from Klintebjerg on board the ferry Lunden which sails to Vigelsø every other Sunday from May until week 42. You can find the ferry schedule on fjordensdag.dk
Are there boat trips in Odense Fjord?
There is no ferry in Odense Fjord. There used to be a boat ferrying to and from Enebærodde, Klintebjerg, Stige and Fyns Hoved, but is is no longer in use. You can bike or walk along the fjord, and you can cross the Odense water channel at the bridge Odins Bro.
How deep is Odense Fjord?
Odense Fjord is very shallow, and the most of the water level is less than two metres. Water trenches have been excavated at a depth of 10 meters in some places, and you can also find depths of 4 meters in the fjord. Therefore, there are many small islands and a rich bird life.

Once upon a time...
Odense Fjord used to look a lot different and was a lot bigger - experience more of the living history of the fjord.
The manor was first mentioned in 1483 and has changed name and owners many times since, before it was named Hofmansgave in 1783!

Østruplund is a manor house not far from Otterup and Odense Fjord, and it has had a huge impact on the reclaiming of Odense Fjord!
